The wind of change. Ветер перемен.

And so came the wind of change! My wind...kind of like in “Mary Poppins”!

Ironically, my last post entitled “Siesta time” transformed into summer hibernation- couldn't approach the computer or the sewing machine for the entire month! And I didn't even get the chance to show you the rabbits and the scarf which were long done by then. Then my suddenly awoken interest for sewing turned into a serious obsession. The result- a rapidly growing mountain of dolls, quite literally! Once I was done making one, I'd immediately move onto the next one, without even making a stand, so they just ended up lying there forming into a little mountain.

Although I did end up making stands for some of them- I guess those will be the ones I'll talk about first.

Meanwhile, I got an award! Olga OlchankA was the one to nominate me for which I want to say big thanks! Its always nice, but I got a little intimidated. Lets face it, my computer skills leave a lot to be desired, so I needed some time before figuring out all of the rules, pick all of the blogs since I was head deep into the sewing! However, I did pick the blogs by now, and will be reporting in the near future.

I also had the idea to do a blog post about a Mary Poppins doll that I was making. However the Tilda style does not suit such delicate little doll, ,so I decided to make the Korean cloth doll. For the first time! So I printed out the pattern, made it- and she turned out to be so tiny! Little did I know I had to enlarge it before printing- she is smaller than your regular Barbie! I also made a coat for her, but it just looked so rough, and now she is just lying there unattended. Highly doubt that I'll get around to finishing her. Although I might get some crazy idea for her, the body turned out fantastic, I might show it to you sometime. All right, seems like I've justified my absence.

Now onto the rabbits! I was determined to make my own original pattern, so that the ears can be sewing into the seam- quickly and neatly. I stopped making them after the 3^rd sample. Turns out I was pretty much inventing the bicycle again- the pattern already existed! And it did not occur to me to google it. Although the ones I've seen were bears and cats, never a bunny, perhaps someone has made it before, but I find comfort in assuming that this little bit was entire my idea. And so, here they are. The Bride was made for an order I got in May, the Groom is still here. I'll probably have to make him another partner by the time my craft show comes in November.

 

Итак, подул ветер перемен. Мой ветер! Как в «Мери Поппинс»!

По иронии, мой последний пост в блоге “Siesta time” (время послеобеденного сна) перерос в спячку! Целый месяц я не могла подойти ни к машинке, ни к компьютеру. Даже не показала зайцев и шарф, которые были уже закончены. Потом появившийся интерес к шитью вылился в абсолютную зависимость. В результате у меня гора нашитых кукол. В прямом смысле слова! Закончив шить одну, тут же начинала другую, даже не сделав подставку. Так и лежат они горкой!

Ну некоторым то я сдела стоечки — вот с них наверное и начну показ.

А тем временем меня наградили! Оля Олчанка присвоила мне награду! Спасибо, Большое! Приятно, конечно, но это немного меня испугало. Все таки в компьютере я не очень сильна, надо время было на выясненеие условий размещения, да и выбрать блоги тоже надо время. А я же вся в шитье! Но, блоги я уже выбрала, и в ближайшее время отчитаюсь!

И была еще идея начать писать с показа Мэри Поппинс! Но! Тильда для столь утонченной особы не подойдет. Решила сшить тряпиенсу. Первый раз! Распечатала выкройку, сшила — а она маленькая получилась. Надо было увеличивать при печати. Размер ее меньше чем Барби. Пальто я кое как сшила, но смотрится оно грубо, и лежит она теперь не восстребованная. И закончу я ее врядли. Ну может быть прийдет идея, все таки тело получилось фигуристое! Как нибудь и ее покажу. Потому как заняла она пару недель моего времени. Ну вот, вроде бы оправдалась в своем отсутствии.

Теперь о зайцах! Задумала я сделать свою выкройку, что бы уши вшивались сразу — и ровно и быстро! Отшила 3 образца, на четвертом остановилась. И оказалось, что я изобретала велосипед. Нет бы погуглить выкройки. Уже существует такая — спинка целая, а перед из двух деталей. Правда видела я таких медведей и котов, зайцев никто не шил по ней. А может и шил. Ну мне приятнее думать что это хоть маленькое, но мое изобретение! Итак, вот они. Невесту я шила на заказ, ее заврали еще в мае, а жених так и стоит. Надо ему перед выставкой другую пару сшить.

And this is something that I wanted to post back in May, prior to suffering from my writers block. Although it doesnt look as cute as it did back then...but here is a nest with some baby birds right outside of our house. You can practically reach out and touch them if you go up the stairs. What a braven bird! Maybe its just a calm spot for them, despite of we get regular racoon visits on the balcony and a couple of coyotes passing by.

А вот то, что я собиралась показать вам еще в мае! Сейчас это уже не вызывает умиления, как весной, но все таки... Это гнездо с птенцами рядом с соседней дверью. Поднявшить на ступеньки можно было дотянуться рукой до птенчиков! Вот такая бравая птичка! А может у нас тут место спокойное для них. Хотя еноты иногда на балкон захаживают, и койоты изредка пробегают.
