Spice Girl - Chocolate.

 

Chocolate – last one from my Spice Girls collection. To be continued! Promise!

Circle print on this chocolate colour fabric make he look like an Aero Chocolate. To enhance her fluffiness I decided to make a tulle petticoat . Truffle like sleeves were a surprise for me. When I started with them I had no idea of the final result .

Cake- It was fun making it. I’m going to order felt and make a whole bakery of cakes, they look real from afar!

When asked which image she represents, my husband replied- Donut!  Haha, apparently the circle print confused him! In his defence, she didn’t have a cake when he first saw her. Enjoy!

Spice Girl – Orange.

Continuing with the Spice Girls streak. Today is Orange!

As you can see I found good use for the orange print fabric. And I had the perfect buttons to match. Time to dry the oranges – 6 hours in the oven on 200F. The house smelled fantastic the whole day! Put everything together – and voila – Orange spice Girl!

Today, I will show you my recent project. Initially, I was going to make a Coupidon-like cat- with bow and arrow, but this is what turned out! Not male, nor female, sort of unisex. Even better- suitable for anybody. I finally found good use for these pink feathers; they were sort of living a life of their own since I opened the package and I kept seeing them in the strangest places all over the house. I wonder how they do that!

 

Сегодня покажу вам мою вчерашнюю работу. Собиралась шить кота-купидона, с луком и стрелой — а получилось ОНО! То ли кот, то ли кошка. Ну так даже лучше. Всем подойдет. Нашлось применение розовым перьям. Купила их еще весной, и они, живя своей жизнью, разлетелиь по всему дому. Находила их в самых неожиданных местах. Вот, направила их в полезное русло.

Spice Girl – Coffee.

Today's post is the official opening day of my Spice Girls exhibit! The idea of making spice themed dolls came to me a few months back which is when I started making them. So far, I've got- Coffee, Chocolate, Orange Spice, Salt n' Pepper. Cinnamon and Vanilla are currently in the making process.

So here, I present to you- Coffee. I've always loved the idea of coffee fairies, a variety of which can be found in most craft websites and blogs, and naturally I wanted one of my own. The only problem was that I could never get the right image for my fairy, I did however have a picture in mind of an African lady picking coffee beans somewhere in the lands of Ethiopia. Incidentally, I had a piece of brown linen lying around. She was a beauty from the moment I put the body together! She reminds me of one of those petite wooden African statues, which was exactly the reason why I didn't want a busy outfit. Making the accessories was the most fun for me! I tried to keep true to the African style with her sandals which were actually my very first attempt at any kind of doll shoewear; the other boots and shoes followed this one. The basket was also made by me. I covered a little wooden bucket with some saran wrap, put some glue on the twine and wrapped it around tightly. Once it dried, I stuck half of a styrofoam ball inside and glued a couple of layers of coffee beans on top. I hope you like my Coffee!

 

Показам сегодняшней куклы я открываю мою коллекцию Спайс Герлз (Spice Girls). Идея сшить кукол с именем приправы или продукта и соответствующим образом пришла ко мне давно. И стала я шить понемногу. На данный момент готова Кофе, Шоколад, Апельсин, Соль с перцем (это одно имя). В процессе Корица и Ваниль.

Итак — кофе. Мне всегда нравились кофейные феи. Великое разнообразие которых можно увидеть на кукольных форумах. Хотела и я себе такую. Но образ «моей» кофейной феи у меня никак не складывался. Зато всегда был образ африканки, собирающей кофе. И был у меня уже давно отрез коричневого льна. Собрав тело, она уже была красавица! Напоминающая деревянных африканских статуэток. Поэтому я не стала ее перегружать деталями. С большим удовольствием делала аксессуары. Старалась выдержать их в африканском стиле. Сандалии - это мой первый эксперемент сдалать самой обувь для куклы. Туфли и сапоги были уже потом. Корзину делала тоже сама. Обмотала деревянное ведерко пленкой. Смазывала веревку клеем ПВА и обматывала вокруг. Как высохла, внуть вставила половинку от пенопластвого шара и в два слоя обклеила зернами кофе. Надеюсь вам понравится моя Кофе!

 

Snowflake the Deer. Олень снежноухий.

Today I decided to do a photoshoot of some of the toys that are coming with me to the show, and thankfully I picked a sunny day to do that. This deer, which was originally taken from Tone Finnanger’s new book, did not inspire me at all, until I saw Alesia version of it. The sewing process was very unique and quite interesting. The only complication I had was trying to find the right branches to serve as antlers, which was a real scavenger hunt considering all of the trees and bushes are trimmed! So I pretty much had to go to the forest which probably looked ridiculous- a lady running around from tree to tree with a pair of scissors, inspecting it and then snapping off a few branches with great care. So this is what came out-Snowflake the Deer. Although Maksim insists on calling him it a dog! And to me he looks like a graceful hound too.

 

Сегодня пыталась пофотографировать готовые к выставке игрушки. Благо сегодня выдался солнечный день. Этот олень из новой книги Тони Финнангер меня совсем не воодушевил. Пока я не увидела его в исполнении Алеси. Шить было интересно, необычно. Единственная трудность было найти веточки для рогов. У нас же все деревья и кусты подстригают. Пришлось идти в лес. Выглядела я немного странно — тетка с ножницами бегает от дерева к дереву, тщательно его рассматривая и бережно отрезая кончики веточек. Ну вот то, что я выбрала. Теперь у меня есть снежноухий олень!  Хотя Максим упорно называет его собачкой! Да, проглядывается у этого оленя стать гончей!

And so, I am at the finish line. 6 days until the craft show! As planned, I've made a Vintage Angel, she will probably be my last doll. The upcoming week will be dedicated to packaging, tagging and fixing the unfixed. I am so nerveous! Not only is this my first show, but it is also my first public appearance. I'm a total sociophobe! So a little bit about the angel. Very little bit actually. Last night I stitched the body parts and the wings. This morning was assembly and stuffing. This was the fastest, most successful and satisfying project of mine. The photoshoot length- 5 minutes!

 

Итак, я на финишной прямой! До выставки осталось 6 дней! Сегодня сшила Винтажного ангела, как и планировала. Это наверное последняя кукла. Эту неделю буду заниматься оформлением упаковки, бирок и доделывать недоделки. Очень волнуюсь, как все пройдет. Это не только моя первая выставка, но и первое публичное появление на людях. Я социофоб!

Ну и немного об ангеле. Совсем немного. Вечером прострочила детали тела и крылья. С утра набила и собрала. Это самый быстрый и удовлетворительный проэкт. Фотосъемка — 5 минут.

Two girlfriends. Две подружки, две толстушки.

This post has been inspired by Julia from Tilda-mania. After seeing her “Shopaholic Lucy” project, I immediately got to making my own curvy lady. The first time I followed that pattern and after being pleasantly surprised with the making process, I made another one. Its very my style, to make things in twos. I wanted to make her a companion to go on shopping sprees with, but this one really didn't enjoy a little retail therapy- she was all about yoga!

On the other hand, the photoshoot turned out to be the polar opposite of the making process- it took hours, today was my attempt number 5! The were very camera shy.

And as always- a few experiments! The flower on the bag has some very interesting engineering behind it. I saw it in an ancient English book about ruffles and gathering. Fast and cute! Well, in my opinion at least.

Погуляв по магазинам, нагуляли аппетит.

Пообедав в ресторане, загрузив колорий воз,

Пожелали разгрузится На досуге в йога классе.

И одна переодевшись, в зал спортивный собралась.

А вторая побежала в магазинчик за штанами.

Сегодняшний пост появился благодаря Юле Вареньевне с тильдо-мании. Увидев ее «Шопоголика Люську», сразу же решила сшить толстушку. Первый раз шила по этой выкройке! Получила огромное удовольствие от процесса и тут же решила сшить еще одну. Это в моем стиле — шить две сразу. Хотела сделть ей подружку, что бы не скучно было ходить по магазинам, а она не захотела быть шопоголиком - решила пойти йогой заняться!

Легкий процесс шитья «компенсировался» невероятно трудным процессом фотографирования. Сегодня была пятая попытка! Ну никак они не хотят фотографироваться. Наверное стесняются?

Ну и как всегда — эксперимент! Цветок на сумки сшит по интересной технологии. Увидела в старинной английской книге по шитью воланов и буф. Быстро и красиво. На мой взгляд.

И первый опыт сочинить стишок. И наверное последний.

Watch out! Brightness! Осторожно, слишком ярко!

Attention! Approach with caution! Today, I compensate for this miserable weather with bright colours! A little too bright – but I like it! Very joyful! They are Gnomes – Santa's helpers. I've made the first one in a couple hours. And had a strong desire to make another one right away. Next day there were three! So I'm thinking – should I stop, or continue to make some more?

Внимание, смотреть с осторожностью! У меня сегодня компенсация мерзкой погоды цветотерапией! Ух и ярко получилось! Но мне нравится! Оччень жизнерадостно! Помошники Санты, они же Гномы. Сшила одного, за пару часов, и аж руки затряслись, до того захотелось еще сшить. На следующий день их было уже три! Вот думаю, еще что ли сшить, или хватит?
